SPAIN (MADRID)

Updated: Aug 16, 2023

A $407 round trip ticket was the sole cause of this trip. November 2016 I kept seeing that round trip deal pop up. I ignored it for 3 days and on day 4 I decided if it was available for the dates I would be flexible to book I would do it. Sure enough the dates were available so I booked a flight for April 3 returning May 2, 2017.

Madrid was not a place that was on my list of places to visit, but I figured I would get myself to Europe cheap and play the rest by ear. I didn’t spend the whole month in Spain because I found two more great flight deals for Dubai and Singapore so I booked those flights in the middle of this trip. The first half of my stay in Madrid was lovely. The weather was nice and the sun was shining. It was a little cool during the day, but that made it great for walking around on foot.

I was able to explore central Madrid near Plaza Mayor. The park there was beautiful and peaceful. The last three days I came back to Madrid to transition back to the US it was cold. I was also in for a shock when the hotel I was staying in told me they had already switched the main unit to AC so there was no heat in the building. That is not something a girl that despises cold weather wants to hear.
