Siem Reap, Cambodia appeared to be the epitome of simple living. The people seemed very laid back. I arrived early in the morning and I didn’t have anything planned for day one. I let the staff at my hotel talk me into an excursion to the floating village Kampong Phluk. That was an interesting experience to see the water almost to the level of the houses that were built on stilts. We didn’t make it to Tonle Sap lake for sunset because the waters got really choppy and our boat was acting like it wanted to capsize.
My day tour covered all the major Siem Reap attractions Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm, Angkor Thom & Bayon. I booked 4 days in Siem Reap and I covered everything on my list in one. Since I had extra time I went to the killing fields and it was interesting to read the history of the genocide. I also went to the war museum and walked around the downtown area.
