Hotel Review: Serene Boutique Hotel – Great Staff & Location
I had a GREAT stay at Serene Boutique Hotel. My impression of the hotel started before I even arrived. I called the hotel to get them to advise me on how much a taxi should be from Hanoi airport. The connection was poor and they couldn’t hear me. A few minutes later I received a message from Sunday saying she was with the reception at Serene Boutique Hotel and she was checking to see how she could help me since we had a bad call connection. She offered to have their hotel shuttle come and pick me up to avoid scams and I initially passed because the price was much more expensive than the Grab price. After some back and forth with Grab and the drivers trying to send me in a different car I message back to the hotel and asked her to send the shuttle. Within a few minutes the shuttle driver arrived and he even had a sign with my name (how is that for last minute service)!
When I arrived to the hotel I was greeted warmly by all the staff. Sunday took care of my check-in and helped me book my Halong Bay tour. I was back and forth with what I wanted to do but she patiently waited while I looked over the brochures between the regular and luxury tour and she never once pressured me about choosing anything. The next day I needed to go out for dinner, but I was skeptical of using Grab and Taxis but Sunday ordered my taxi for me and checked in with me to make sure I made it to my destination.
The hotel breakfast is really nice. They have Asian and Western options and if you want eggs they are cooked to order. Audrey is the sweetest most welcoming person to start your morning with. Audrey always greeted me with a warm smile, addressed me by name and made sure I had enough to eat and drink.
The rooms are small, but functional. I stayed in an Executive Double room which was comfortable for me. I was happy to have plugs near the desk because that has been a problem in other hotels in Vietnam. The air conditioning cooled perfectly and the bed was comfortable. The housekeeping staff was very pleasant also. I keep my Do Not Disturb on but when I would pop out in the hall to ask them for fresh towels and my two daily bottles of water they were always so kind and stopped their current task to fulfill my request.
The location is great! It’s located in the old quarter so it’s easy pickup for tours and there are plenty of food and mini mart options close by. If you are a long term traveler the Worldwash next door is a super convenient laundry option and very reasonably priced.
