Review: Hilton Garden Inn Nairobi – Unattentive Staff at a Nice New Hotel
My arrival started a bit rocky. There was no bellman in site and I was a little confused about entering the building and putting my luggage through the security scanner. The duty manager that was at the front desk didn’t acknowledge me for quite a while, but he may have been confused by the man that was standing at the counter on the phone.
The first room they checked me into had a loud buzzing noise coming from the breaker box. I called down and told the same duty manager about it and he sent housekeeping. So when she came I told her no I need maintenance. I waited about 10 minutes and called the front desk again. Thankfully I got a lady and she immediately said she would send someone up to change me to a different room. Once I got settled I was happy.
This is the type of new Hilton Garden Inn I’ve been used to staying in. The décor is clean and comfortable, there is an iron and ironing board in the room and a spacious bathroom. One of my favorite features of these new hotels is the onsite self-serve laundry and modern fitness center with a nice elliptical, treadmills and a weight station. The pool area was nice and clean and overlooked the airport. The food was pretty good also.
Checking out I had the same confusion from the front desk. I called down to ask for assistance with my luggage and ten minutes later nobody had showed. I drug my three bags to the elevator myself and when I got to the desk the guy apologized and said he was busy and forgot to send someone. The free airport shuttle was very convenient and my driver Jeffrey was very personable and he went to get me a cart to put my bags on to walk to the terminal.
