Review: Hilton Garden Inn Al Mina - Wonderful Staff
I had a GREAT stay at Hilton Garden Inn – Al Mina. I had to take away a star because of distance to the closest metro and limited shuttle schedule. I enjoyed my king room 429. It was very nicely decorated and I had a view of the Burj Khalifa out my window. The staff here was great. I really wish I would have written down the names of the Front Desk attendants that were very helpful to me. They were always eager to help anytime I was leaving or entering the hotel. They gave me directions to walk to the metro and I misunderstood a turn in the directions. I wound up walking to Al Fahidi instead of Al Jafiliya. The next day we laughed about it and after that any time they gave me walking directions they made sure I understood. LOL
Metro stations: Al Fahidi is much further and you have to walk through a slightly sketchy area to get there. A man tried to get me in his van. Al Jafiliya is still about a 30 minute walk, so if you are not someone who likes to walk it’s best to catch a taxi to the Metro. Al Jafiliya is really close to Zabeel Park where they have the Dubai Garden Glow in the winter months like December to April. It’s definitely a cool place to visit while you are in the area.
I used Uber a couple of times from the hotel and it was nice. Just be sure to reach out to your driver if they are not there when the app says they have arrived because it sent them to the gas station from my location in the hotel. The hotel shuttle was very limited. I think it only had a couple of morning running times to the mall and the beach at the time of my stay. Those were not convenient times for me so I never got to take advantage of the shuttle.
Last but certainly not least was my room attendant (housekeeping) Eli. He was the absolute best. I have never in all my travels had someone as efficient as him. He noticed me going to work out my second day there and asked when I would like for him to clean my room. From that point he sort of knew my schedule and if I was off schedule when he would see me he would always confirm when it was a good time. He left me some cool little towel animals after each cleaning and was always very polite.
