Review: Crowne Plaza Johannesburg – Rosebank - CONVENIENT LOCATION
This hotel changed ownership and became a Southern Sun Hotel after my stay.
Clara offered the warmest welcome to the property. She was all smiles and very efficient with my check-in. I had mistakenly put one adult on my reservation instead of two and she corrected my mistake with no problems. She also asked if I preferred a shower or tub which was much appreciated because I do prefer showers and wish more people would ask for this preference. Mbuyiselo graciously took our bags and held them for us as we checked in. Then he brought them to the room for us and called housekeeping to bring us an iron and ironing board when he noticed we did not have one.
The rooms didn’t have many plugs and the bathroom was really small. There was a nice view of the city and all the trees in the distance. The construction was a bit annoying on one day because I was woke up by loud drilling at 9:00am. I went down to ask how long the drilling would last because I had planned on staying in and working that day. Refernse was very diligent in calling around to find an answer.
This was a convenient place to stay for catching the City Sightseeing bus that has a main office location at Rosebank Mall which is just a short walk down the road. Rosebank Mall also offers a variety of shopping and dining options along with a supermarket to pick up snacks for your room. There is also a Gautrain station at Rosebank Mall that will give you access to other parts of the city by Metro.
Lettie handled my check-out and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to be at the reception desk at the time. I went down in a complete panic because I had a12pm flight instead of 1pm, so I was pushing my departure time from the hotel close. Her warm smile calmed my nerves a bit and she moved very quickly closing out my account. Then she went above and beyond to go to the other exit to get the Uber driver that messaged me and said he was there, but he wasn’t at the exit where I was standing. After all of that she gave me a hug and sent me on my way with well wishes. I never did take pictures of the room, but I did take some pictures of the food in the lounge.
