Luxor, Egypt quickly became my favorite place because I absolutely LOVED the Hilton Luxor Resort & Spa. The staff was AMAZING! I needed AA batteries and when I asked for the closest store to get them they said no we will send someone for you. WOW! Within in the hour I had AA batteries delivered to my room. How is that for service? The people in the hotel were super friendly. I feel like we are all friends now and I can’t wait to go and visit them again. I could hang out at the hotel pool all day every day because it is so nice and it sits on the Nile River.
One bad side note in Luxor I was trying to avoid paying for a tour and I wound up getting hustled by a guy on the street. He walked up to me all friendly and talked about how he had seen me at the hotel. He said he was going to walk around and show me his home and protect me. My dumb butt believed him and then I later realized he walked up to me after he saw me get off the Hilton Luxor shuttle (he didn’t work there). I let him talk me into taking me on a tour to Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple, Colossi of Memnon and Temple of Hatshepsut. He charged me less than the tour company but his car didn’t have AC, I still had to buy entrance tickets and he couldn’t go in as my guide. This taught me the lesson that on some things you just need to spend the money up front instead of trying to do it alone on a budget. I’ll know better next time!
